Levi B. Edgecombe, CFP, ChFC, CLU - Senior Planning Member

Levi B. Edgecombe began his career in 1971 with Equitable of Iowa following 2 years as a Youth Director at First Presbyterian Church in Tacoma, Washington. He has been involved in the financial services industry since that time. Levi and Don Coplin formed Edgecombe & Coplin Wealth Strategies, LLC in December, 2000 so that they could combine their strengths to better serve clients. Levi has earned his CLU, ChFC, and CFP designations and has concentrated his professional development in the arenas of estate, business and retirement planning for both individuals and closely held companies.

Levi is the past President of the Tacoma SW Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals and is a member of the Tacoma Estate Planning Council. Levi has been the featured speaker several times for the Tacoma and Olympia Estate Planning Councils and has been a LUTCF instructor for Advanced Estate Planning. In 2008 Levi was a featured speaker at the Commonwealth Financial Network National Wealth Symposium.

Levi and his wife Denise were married in 1981 and have resided in Puyallup since 1982. Their daughter Whitney is married, lives near Chicago and is completing her Masters Degree at Loyola University. Their son Jesse is completing his college education. Levi serves on a local Young Life advisory committee and is an elder at his church of 20 years, Crossroads Covenant. Levi is a graduate of Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois with a B.A. in Literature.

Donald W. Coplin, CFP, ChFC, CLU - Senior Planning Member

Don began his career in 1982 with The John Hancock by answering an ad in the Seattle newspaper looking for individuals who would like to make $50,000 or more a year. Since then, his career has evolved from being an insurance advisor, to a manager of fee-based financial advisors to a partner in private practice today. In December of 2000, Don joined forces with his current business partner, Levi Edgecombe to form Edgecombe & Coplin Wealth Strategies, LLC, thus enhancing the planning capabilities for their clients. His primary responsibility in the firm is the creation, monitoring and management of client’s investment accounts.

Don has earned his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation and has also received his Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designations from The American College. He is currently the President-Elect of the South Puget Sound Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and works as the Program Chairman. He also holds membership with the Tacoma SW Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals. Don has taught multiple classes for the Life Underwriters Training Council and is a member of their Fellowship.

Don and his wife Judy got married on May 17th, 1980. In fact, they were married the day before Mount St. Helens blew, which Don uses to remind him of his anniversary each year. They live in Puyallup in the house they built in 1991 along with their Miniature Schnauzer, Nina and their new addition, Olive U, a Pocket Beagle. Life is kept very active, keeping up with their kids and their lives. Drew, the oldest, is married to Krista and they live in Nixa, MO, where they are actively involved in Zipline USA in Reeds Springs, MO. They also both perform at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO. Ben, the youngest, is the Director of Youth Ministries at The Crossing, a church in Costa Mesa, CA and his wife Kristina is a Nanny for some wonderful children.

Don is very involved locally and that includes being a member of the Finance Committee and of the Board at Sound Life Church.  He also teaches an adult Sunday School class, plays in the orchestra and is involved in Royal Rangers, a men’s mentoring program for young men.  Don loves to play music, especially on his saxes, camping, traveling and restoring cars.  When he has “FREE TIME”, he likes to do yard work with Judy and relax in his big chair with his puppies.

Judy L. Coplin - Office Manager

Judy began her career in Jan 2001 when she became the Office Manager for Edgecombe & Coplin Wealth Strategies, LLC, the day they opened their doors to their new office in Puyallup, WA.  Prior to that, she was an Account Manager for Hallmark Cards and a full time Mom.  Judy not only is the Office Manager, but she is also the Executive Assistant to owners, Levi Edgecombe and Don Coplin.  She provides support to the staff and our clients, handling client service issues, planning client events and assisting at our seminar events.  Her administrative duties also include managing the finances of the firm, overseeing human resources and all employee benefits.  She is also the direct link between our firm and our accounting firm.

Judy and Don just celebrated their 30th anniversary in 2010 and have been very busy this past year.  She has had her oldest son, Drew get married, in Missouri, to the love of his life, Krista Berg.  Then her baby boy Ben got married in Phoenix, to the wonderful Kristina Smith.  As Kristina’s father said at the wedding, “There is now one less Smith in the world”.  That helps the Coplins as there are not too many of us around. 

Judy is very involved with both of her sons and daughter-in-laws.  Whether she is in the stands cheering on a football player (son) or a dance team member (daughter-in-law) or facebooking with California (daughter-in-law) or just on the phone (son), she always stays in contact.  She is also very involved with her church, Sound Life Church.  In the church choir, she sings in the Alto section on a weekly basis and for all big special holiday events.  She is also very involved behind the scenes at the church, helping in many areas, including the soundboard, handling the church sound systems.  Judy’s favorite thing to do is “Making Memories” with her family and best friend, Kathy.
